Services Development Manager – Eyecare Charity Sector

Salary: £42,000
Location: Homebased, with regular travel across the UK
Hours: Full-time (Part-time considered)

About the Organisation

A UK-based charity dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of circumstances, has access to essential eye care. They provide free eye tests and glasses to people experiencing homelessness, championing the right to sight for all.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Services Development Manager to play a central role in shaping the future of the charity. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered optical professional (Optometrist or Dispensing Optician) who wants to make a real difference, leading innovation in how eye care is delivered to some of the most underserved communities in the UK.

Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider team, you’ll design, develop and implement new models of care (such as domiciliary and outreach services), ensuring clinics and projects remain inclusive, flexible, and person-centred. You’ll also build strong partnerships across the health and homelessness sectors, increasing the reach to more people in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, testing and rollout of new service models (including domiciliary and outreach care).
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure services remain inclusive and responsive.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to co-design services shaped by lived experience.
  • Monitor and evaluate services, embedding learning and best practice.
  • Support clinic teams, volunteers and colleagues to deliver care.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines clinical credibility with leadership experience and a passion for community impact. You’ll bring:

  • GOC registration as an Optometrist or Dispensing Optician.
  • Significant leadership experience within the optical industry.
  • Proven track record of service design and delivery in health, social care, or community settings.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to inclusion and improving access to eye care for people experiencing homelessness.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique chance to step into a role where your expertise goes beyond practice walls, driving innovation, shaping services nationally, and directly improving the lives of people facing homelessness.

You’ll join a supportive, mission-driven team who are passionate about making eye care accessible for everyone.
