Zest Optical are recruiting an Optical Assistant for a family-run independent opticians in Harborne, Birmingham.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a practice offering longer appointments, a relaxed atmosphere and a personal approach to patient care. The team take pride in providing high-quality service, with time to build relationships and make patients feel welcome.
Optical Assistant – The Role
- Join a friendly independent practice focused on personalised eyecare and quality eyewear
- Primarily based in Redditch, with flexibility to provide cover at the sister practice
- Focus on reception, customer service and supporting the patient journey
- Welcome patients, manage appointments and handle telephone enquiries
- Maintain accurate patient records and support day-to-day administration
- Work closely with the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians
- Opportunities to support contact lens insertion and removal training, depending on experience
- Scope to develop optical knowledge and become more involved in dispensing over time
- Full or part-time applications considered
- Typical working hours of 9am to 5.30pm, with Saturdays finishing at 4.30pm
- Flexibility to work Saturdays preferred, with the pattern discussed at interview
- Closed on Sundays
Optical Assistant – Requirements
- Previous optical experience, ideally at least six months
- A warm, professional approach and a genuine interest in patient care
- Confident communicating with patients in person and over the telephone
- Good organisation, attention to detail and confidence using computer systems
- Enjoy working within a small, supportive team
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Flexibility to work across Redditch and Harborne when required
Optical Assistant – Salary and Benefits
- £25,000 full-time equivalent, pro rata for part-time hours
- 37.5 hours a week
