Zest Optical are working with a patient focused independent opticians in Romsey, Hampshire to recruit a full time Dispensing Optician.

This is an opportunity to join a practice where thoughtful dispensing, individual style and excellent patient care go hand in hand. You will work with distinctive independent eyewear, have a voice in practice decisions and enjoy the freedom to recommend what suits each patient best.

Dispensing Optician – Role

  • Work within a modern, spacious independent practice
  • Provide personalised dispensing advice, taking time to understand each patient’s prescription, lifestyle and preferences
  • Offer frame styling consultations using handpicked independent eyewear from around the world
  • Work with quality lenses, primarily Essilor, alongside access to Hoya, Zeiss and specialist suppliers
  • Develop your experience with complex prescriptions and myopia management
  • Join an experienced team including Dispensing Opticians, a Contact Lens Optician and optical support
  • Work within a practice offering OCT, Optomap, specialist contact lenses and Ortho-K
  • Contribute to frame selection, new collections and ideas to improve the patient experience
  • Opportunity to share management responsibilities, depending on your interests and experience
  • Support with ongoing learning, product knowledge and professional development
  • Opportunities to attend optical trade shows and industry trips
  • Full time, five days per week including every Saturday
  • Working hours of 9am–5pm, with a weekday off
  • Closed Sundays and bank holidays

Dispensing Optician – Salary and Benefits

  • Basic salary of £30,000
  • Bonus potential of up to £6,000 annually, giving total earning potential of £36,000
  • Bonus eligibility following successful completion of a six-month probation period

Dispensing Optician – Requirements

  • Qualified Dispensing Optician registered with the GOC
  • Enthusiastic about independent eyewear, styling and personalised patient care
  • Positive, approachable and comfortable building relationships
  • Open to learning new approaches and sharing your own knowledge
  • Able to take initiative and responsibility within a small team
  • Committed to high standards and continuous improvement
