National Clinic Development Manager

Build Something That Matters
Some management roles ask you to maintain what's already there. This one asks you to build what comes next.
Zest Optical are working in partnership with a national charity to recruit a Static Clinic Manager who will take ownership of five established optical clinics delivering essential eye care services across the UK.
This is a rare opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, leading people and creating meaningful change. You'll have the autonomy to shape how the clinics operate, strengthen local partnerships, grow volunteer engagement and help expand access to eye care for people who need it most.
If you're looking for a role where you'll genuinely influence the future of a service rather than simply manage it, this is it.
The Role
You'll lead the operational delivery and ongoing development of five static clinics located across the UK, ensuring they provide an outstanding service while identifying new opportunities for growth.
No two days will look the same.
One day you may be spending time in a clinic supporting volunteers and resolving operational challenges. The next you could be meeting community organisations, developing referral pathways, analysing performance data or creating plans to increase patient numbers.
This role requires someone who enjoys switching between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, taking ownership of both the bigger picture and the finer details that keep services running successfully.
Working closely with volunteers, clinical colleagues and partner organisations, you'll continually look for ways to strengthen each clinic, improve efficiency and increase access to care.
What Success Looks Like
The organisation has ambitious plans for its static clinic network, with a clear objective of significantly increasing the number of people supported over the coming years.
Success will come from:
- Growing patient numbers across all five clinics
- Building strong relationships with local community partners and referral organisations
- Recruiting, supporting and developing volunteers
- Driving continuous operational improvements
- Creating sustainable local growth plans that deliver long-term impact
You'll have genuine freedom to shape how those objectives are achieved, with the support of an experienced leadership team who value initiative, fresh thinking and evidence-based decision making.
About You
This role would suit a qualified Dispensing Optician or an experienced optical professional with the clinical knowledge and practical expertise to confidently support the day-to-day operation of busy clinics.
More importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys taking ownership.
You're proactive, resilient and comfortable working independently. You don't wait to be told what needs improving—you identify opportunities, create plans and see them through.
