Optometrist Job – Ashford and Hythe, Kent

Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 Pro Rata
Hours: 4.5 Days per Week | Saturday Mornings Only

Zest Optical are working alongside a long-established independent Opticians in Kent to recruit a full-time Optometrist.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded independent group that has been providing professional eyecare for 100 years. Ideally, the successful Optometrist will work between two well-established practices in Ashford and Hythe, which are approximately 20 minutes apart. However, there may also be the option to work from one practice if travelling between both locations is not suitable.

The practices have built a loyal patient base and an excellent local reputation through their focus on thorough, personalised eyecare. Appointments are typically 40 minutes, giving you the time and clinical freedom to manage each patient properly without feeling rushed.

Alongside routine eye examinations, the group provides an impressive range of specialist services, including OCT, MECS, myopia management, complex contact lens fitting, colourimetry and cataract assessment. A specialist Dry Eye Clinic is also available from the Folkestone practice.

This would suit an Optometrist who values independent practice, enjoys developing their clinical knowledge and would like the freedom to provide genuinely patient-led care.

Optometrist – Role

• Ideally working between practices in Ashford and Hythe
• Option to be based at one practice if working across both locations is not suitable
• Established independent Opticians with a loyal patient base
• 40-minute eye examinations
• Single testing room practices with a personal, community-focused environment
• Access to OCT, retinal photography and additional diagnostic equipment
• Specialist services including MECS, myopia management, colourimetry and complex contact lenses
• Wider group services include EyeDream overnight vision correction, cataract assessment and a specialist Dry Eye Clinic in Folkestone
• High level of clinical freedom to manage patients and recommend the most appropriate lenses and contact lenses
• Working alongside experienced optical teams, including qualified Dispensing Opticians
• Opportunity to develop specialist clinical interests

Optometrist – Requirements

• Fully qualified Optometrist registered with the GOC
• MECS accredited or willing to complete the training
• Strong focus on patient care
• Interested in clinical development and specialist services
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

Optometrist – Salary and Benefits

• Salary between £60,000 and £65,000 pro rata
• Working 4.5 days per week
• Typical hours from 9am to 5pm
• Saturday mornings only, finishing at 1pm
• Professional fees paid
