Zest Optical recruitment is working with a leading lens manufacturer in Birmingham to hire a full-time Optical Customer Service Advisor for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This role is based within the customer service department of a company that provides optical lenses and glazing services to opticians across the UK. If you have experience in the optical industry and enjoy delivering excellent customer service, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Optical Customer Service Advisor – Role Highlights

  • Handle inbound customer calls, providing support and information on topics such as technical inquiries, EDI, orders, deliveries, and promotions using the Diabolocom telephone system
  • Create and manage Salesforce (SF) cases, ensuring timely follow-ups and avoiding duplications
  • Expedite urgent customer orders using internal systems such as SF and Annapurna
  • Make outbound customer calls, providing updates on queries, delays, out-of-stock items, and supporting new customers
  • Process orders accurately, ensuring product knowledge and applying appropriate systems
  • Manage email inboxes and respond to customer inquiries daily
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues across the business to maintain smooth operations
  • Escalate customer concerns to the Team Manager and Business Development Managers (BDMs) as necessary
  • Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deliver excellent service
  • Process credits, including commercial and pricing corrections
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in customer service
  • Follow company policies, including Health & Safety and environmental guidelines

Optical Customer Service Advisor – Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Optical Assistant or Glazing Technician
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong rapport with customers
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Optical Customer Service Advisor – Package

  • 12-month fixed-term contract
  • 37.5 hours per week with hybrid working (2 days in the office, 3 days from home after a 3-month probation period)
  • Salary: £24,500 per annum
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with occasional weekends (1 in 4 Saturdays and 1 in 8 Sundays)
