Zest Optical is working in partnership with a growing optical supplier to recruit a commercially driven Business Development Manager to cover the South West.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious optical professional looking to move into field sales, or for someone already working within the optical industry who enjoys building relationships, developing accounts and identifying new business opportunities.
You will take responsibility for managing and growing a regional customer base, working closely with the Managing Director to implement sales strategies and drive sustainable business growth across the territory.
Business Development Manager – Role
- Manage and develop existing independent optical accounts across the South West.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities into long-term customer partnerships.
- Build strong relationships with practice owners, Dispensing Opticians and key decision-makers.
- Work closely with the Managing Director to deliver regional sales strategies.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets through proactive account management and business development.
- Plan and manage your own diary, appointments and territory effectively.
- Provide regular market feedback and competitor insight to support the wider business strategy.
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, events and industry exhibitions.
- Be prepared for occasional overnight stays and potential travel to Italy.
Business Development Manager – Requirements
- Previous experience working within the optical industry.
- Applications are welcomed from Dispensing Opticians or experienced Optical Assistants looking to move into sales.
- A strong understanding of the independent optical market.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially minded, self-motivated and target-driven.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.
- A valid passport.
- Previous field sales experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
